Local housing allowance
Valuation of land for affordable housing 2nd edition, April 2016, published by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 2016, states: ‘Local housing allowance (LHA) Local housing allowance is housing benefit available to low income households. It is administered by the local authority and helps pay the rent and some service charges to a private landlord. The amount of LHA depends on household income, the maximum rent allowed for properties in the area (assessed by VOA) and the number of rooms the council decides are required. LHA is subject to Benefits Cap.’
